On longer trips I always carry a bottle of the (whatever-it-is-called-in-USA-)spray, that you can refill your tire with, if it gets flat. Another thing I carry is a spare clutch wire - should the regular one snap in the midst of nowhere you'd be in BIG trouble. If you don't have a windshield on your bike, get one ! It takes lots of pressure off your arms, so you can ride relaxed and enjoy. I am also a big friend of hard, waterproof bags. Of corse they don't look very nice, but they are so very practical !
And, if you use a tankbag that fastens with magnets : KEEP ALL YOUR CREDIT CARDS FAR AWAY from the magnets, since the magnets in the bag will ruin the magnetic code in the plastic credit card. It happened to me.
Nice to see Hogryder is still with us. I'm sure his advice is good, but I must say you live in a terrible place if you must carry something for selfdefence on a motorcycle trip. That is something unheared of for us lucky people here in the safe Scandinavia.
Enjoy your trip, Leah, and drop us a line and tell us how it was !
All good things, Peter.
